15 Questions with Ulylisa Frazelle
In this edition of 15 Questions we meet Ulylisa Frazelle, Assistant Director of Transportation and Parking Services on the Hospitality and Auxiliary Services team, porcelain doll collector, and blanket-crocheting community giver.
How long have you worked at Wake Forest?
September 2026 marks nine years at Wake Forest.
In simple terms, how would you explain your job here at Wake Forest?
Overall, I help facilitate parking for multiple campus partners, events, and any visitors who come to campus. In my role, I assist with all their parking needs, questions, and concerns.
What do you like best about working at Wake Forest?
I’ve worked in the collegiate setting for about 12 years, and I truly enjoy working here because I get to interact with so many different people. It’s never a dull day, and I’m constantly getting new questions I haven’t thought about before.
What’s your favorite place on campus?
My favorite spot is the patio section with green space on the academic side of Alumni Hall, which is the building where the Transportation and Parking Services office is located. There are chairs and tables on the corner where you can look out and see people coming in, but you’re also a bit tucked away if you need a breather.
Do you have a favorite Wake Forest tradition or activity?
When I first started here, I was not aware of the rolling of the Quad after big wins! When I first saw it, I thought someone was going to be in a lot of trouble with all that toilet paper in the trees, until I learned it was a beloved tradition. I really enjoy seeing it now.
How would you describe your music taste?
It’s a combination of a lot of different types, but primarily it’s either ’90s R&B or country music. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of Luke Combs.
What book or TV show or podcast would you recommend to our readers?
I’m big on true crime documentaries and shows. There is a show called “How It Really Happened” that I highly recommend if you’re into true crime and mystery.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Always treat people with kindness and respect. You never know how your actions or words are going to affect somebody else, or what they might be going through.
What is one of your hobbies?
I collect porcelain dolls from all over the world. It started when my dad worked at RJ Reynolds and brought me back a porcelain doll from a project in Hong Kong when I was three years old. My collection has expanded to include dolls from Africa, South America, China, and beyond. My favorite is a marionette doll named Basil that I got as a child.
What brings you joy?
Spending time with family and friends brings me joy. I’ve also recently taken up crocheting—I love to crochet right now!
Is there something you are particularly passionate about or involved in outside of work?
Connecting back to my love for crocheting, I’ve started making blankets to donate. My sister works for the City of Greensboro assisting underprivileged populations and people experiencing mental health crises, so I am creating a collection of blankets for her to keep on hand and distribute to people in need.
How does your past background in phlebotomy and specimen processing connect with your current work in Transportation and Parking Services?
I have a biology degree, so I love all things science, which led me to get my phlebotomy certification and work in a hospital. In that environment, you interact with people in very stressful scenarios and learn how to help calm them down and navigate tense situations. That directly translates to my work now—whether I’m interacting with someone who isn’t excited about receiving a parking citation or working with event organizers to find alternative parking solutions, that background helps me stay composed and calm.
What is your dream vacation destination?
Anywhere tropical, but specifically, Fiji. I want a cabana right on the water.
If you could instantly become an absolute expert in any skill or subject overnight, purely for fun, not for work, what would it be?
Given my science background, I would go with becoming an expert in chemistry! I’d like to be able to understand how to mix chemical components to create whatever I want, like perfumes, just for the fun of it.
What is the greatest gift you’ve ever received?
During my first semester in college, my mother sent me flowers on my birthday when I turned 18. I love having flowers in the house and had mentioned to her for years how nice it would be to receive them. It meant so much to me that I actually got a tattoo in honor of my mom featuring the type of flowers she sent me on my birthday.
