The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) was established a year ago to support Wake Forest’s commitment to providing an education and work environment free from discrimination, harassment and retaliation. The office serves as a centralized location for faculty, staff, and students to find appropriate resources, education and training for preventing and reporting this prohibited conduct. We are reaching out today to remind you about the services OIE provides, reporting obligations and options, and resources available to members of the Wake Forest community.

As explained in the University’s Policy on Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation, Wake Forest prohibits discrimination and harassment based on a number of protected categories in its employment practices and educational programs and activities. All supervisors and administrators are required to report possible violations of the policy that they know about (either directly or through a report to them). All other employees, as well as students, are strongly encouraged to file a report in a timely manner. Promptly reporting concerns about discrimination, harassment and retaliation helps Wake Forest fulfill its commitment to ensuring that concerns are addressed and that the campus environment is inclusive and welcoming to all.

Reports should be submitted as soon as possible to the Office of Institutional Equity at OIE@wfu.edu or using the online reporting form. Following receipt of a report, OIE will conduct an initial assessment, offer resources as needed, and identify appropriate action to respond to the report. Anyone who is uncertain about whether they are required to report information should contact OIE.

Members of the University community may also interface with OIE by phone at 336-758-7258 (during office hours) or by in-person office visits. The office is located in Reynolda Hall, Suite 307. All Wake Foresters are also encouraged to visit the OIE website to access information regarding prevention and education programs, campus resources, policies and procedures, and more.

Thank you for your contributions to fostering equitable, inclusive and healthy environments for working, living and learning where all members of the Wake Forest community feel safe and valued.
